Over 300 contract positions for Civil Defence Force approved — Chief Commissioner

IPOH, May 17 — The Public Service Department (PSD) has approved 302 contract positions for members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) at various levels.

APM chief commissioner Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed said the approval was also endorsed by the Finance Ministry.

“Previously, APM held several discussions with PSD regarding these position applications, deliberating whether they would be offered on a contract or permanent basis.

“However, after Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi himself responded to the matter, PSD informed us that approval has been granted for these positions on a contract basis,” he said.

Aminurrahim was speaking to the press after attending the Ceremony for the Handover of Honorary Officer Appointment Lettres and Presentation of Perak APM Service and Excellence Ribbon Award yesterday night.

On March 5, Zahid said the status of the applications for permanent and contract positions for APM members would be announced soon.

Aminurrahim stressed that approval for these positions is crucial to enhancing the capabilities of APM personnel and ensuring their welfare.

Meanwhile, there will be no reduction in training sessions for APM personnel in preparation for the southwest monsoon season, with due attention paid to safety.

He said these training sessions would also consider factors including the location, weather, and timing to avoid unforeseen events.

“We have key performance indicators and must be prepared to face the southwest monsoon season, but the training format needs to be appropriate and take into account these factors.

“The Health Ministry has also briefed us to exercise caution during training,” Aminurrahim said.
