KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended contributions to students affected by a fire that broke out at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) on Saturday.
In a Facebook post, Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the aid was presented by his political secretary Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim yesterday.
“I pray that all those involved be granted strength to face this ordeal and the government, through the Higher Education Ministry, will provide appropriate assistance, God willing,” he said.
Early on Saturday, 26 motorcycles were destroyed and 10 others damaged after the parking area of Pauh Putra Residential Complex at UniMAP caught fire.
Arau police chief Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi said police received information about the incident at 4.43am that day.
Yesterday, Pauh Putra Residential Complex head Mohd Syamril Aklmar Chek Kassim expressed gratitude for the concern shown by the prime minister, who extended cash aid to 36 students after the fire damaged their motorcycles.
