KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — The presence of nearly 10,000 visitors enlivened Parti Keadilan Rakyat's 25th anniversary celebration at the Sentul Depot since this morning.
The event’s director Wong Chen said today’s celebration, based on a people-friendly concept, allowed visitors to meet the party’s leaders up close.
“Keadilan president (who is also the Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim himself requested that this programme be carried out in an open manner. As we know, people prefer programmes that have a pop-up market.
“Today, there is also a police (PDRM) traffic summons payment counter that offers discounts of up to 50 per cent," he told Bernama at the event.
Wong Chen, who is also Subang Jaya MP, said there were two sessions held today, namely the Pop-Up Market in the morning, while the night session saw the attendance of top leaders.
Meanwhile, visitor and party member Teoh Geok Chor said today’s programme was very convenient for the people with various exhibitions and stalls available.
“I came from Bagan, Penang, in the morning. Everything is so good. There are food stalls and a PDRM traffic counter and I have just finished paying the summons,” he said.
Another attendee, Dekyah Masmaria Wahab, said that today's celebration approach resonates with the Prime Minister's enduring unity with the community.
“Our PM (Anwar) is really close to the people. He always keeps a low profile and does not denigrate others,” she said.
Besides Anwar, other notable attendees tonight were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof who is also chief whip of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, and MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
Also present were Keadilan deputy president Rafizi Ramli and vice presidents Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, Chang Lih Kang, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Aminuddin Harun, Nurul Izzah Anwar, Saraswathy Kandasami and Awang Husaini Sahari, as well as Keadilan secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, information head Fahmi Fadzil, women’s chief Fadhlina Sidek, and Keadilan Youth head Adam Adli Abdul Halim.
Tonight’s event was the highlight of the party’s 25th anniversary, whereas, on April 21, a special convention was held at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam, Selangor.
