SHAH ALAM, May 11 — The victory in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is a testament that the cooperation between the parties in the Unity Government is heading in the right direction.
Pakatan Harapan’s election director for the just-concluded poll, Ng Sze Han, said the synergy between the coalition and Barisan Nasional (BN) is key to Malaysia’s stability and prosperity.
“This is to ensure the development of our multiracial country,” he said in a statement tonight, and expressing his gratitude to BN’s leadership at both the national and state levels.
Earlier, it was reported that Harapan’s candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election Pang Sock Tao has secured victory in today’s poll, defending the seat that was won by her predecessor, the late Lee Kee Hiong, who died of cancer on March 21.
Unofficial results show that Pang won by a handsome majority of about 4,000 votes.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the official result shortly.
Ng, the Selangor DAP secretary, thanked Kuala Kubu Baharu’s constituents for entrusting the Unity Government to continue serving the people there.
He said after securing victory, Pang will now focus on developing the local economy and resolving issues affecting the people, with the ultimate goal of transforming Kuala Kubu Baharu into a sustainable town.
