HULU SELANGOR, May 3 — Selangor aims to build more than 200,000 units of Rumah Selangorku by 2028 to help residents become homeowners.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the target was increased following the success of the Selangor government in building 45,000 units since 2018.

He said his administration has approved more than 140,000 affordable “Under RM250,000” units to date, with some of them in the process of being developed.

“The state government is aiming for the construction of 40,000 homes to be approved by the Selangor Housing and Property Board every year this term. This is the state’s goal in providing affordable homes,” he said.

When met after the ground-breaking ceremony for Rumah Selangorku Lagenda Ardea here today, he said the state government is also focusing on redeveloping cities with modern facilities.

Citing areas such as Petaling and Hulu Selangor as examples, Amirudin said many residential areas built in the 1990s must be redeveloped and given new life.

“The state government will implement ‘boosting’ projects such as the development of education and training institutions and the car manufacturing sector to rejuvenate the economy in these areas,” he said.
