SHAH ALAM, March 5 – The Selangor administration, in collaboration with industry players and academic institutions, has initiated a white paper project to address current challenges in the aerospace sector.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han told the Selangor state assembly that issues such as wage disparities, shortage of skilled workers, and career prospects within the industry are some of the focus of the white paper.
“Employing a triple helix approach involving industry, educational institutions, and the state government, the white paper seeks to ensure comprehensive engagement to address these challenges and guarantee a sufficient supply of skilled workforce for the aerospace industry.
“Proactive measures, such as career fairs, are also being implemented to boost efforts in workforce development,” he said in response to a question raised by Balakong assemblyman Ong Chun Wei regarding the state government’s strategies for the aerospace industry and its economic contributions at the national level, during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting, here today.
Ng also said that the state government, through Invest Selangor Bhd, recently organised a trade mission to Singapore, facilitating a roundtable discussion with major aerospace industry players in the region.
“Among the initiatives deliberated are the development of an aeropark, adoption of advanced manufacturing techniques, projects on sustainable aviation fuels, and various training programmes.
“These efforts are expected to amplify investment interest in Selangor, foster positive growth in the aerospace sector, and catalyse job creation, thereby strengthening the state’s contribution to the national economy,” he added.
