SHAH ALAM, March 2 — Bandar Baru Klang state assemblyman Dr Quah Perng Fei has suggested the state government offer the purchase of vaccines and medications to Peduli Sihat panel clinics.

He said it could also do so in a centralised manner, as medical costs are expected to increase by as much as 25 per cent.

"I propose the government offer the purchase of vaccines and medications to the Peduli Sihat panel clinics in a centralised manner.

"Ordering the vaccines and medications in large quantities directly can reduce medical costs. Therefore, panel clinics can have better access to medications," Dr Quah said.

He was speaking during the debate on Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj's royal address, at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session yesterday.

Introduced on July 2 last year, the Iltizam Sihat Selangor (ISS) initiative aims to benefit 100,000 residents involving a RM67 million allocation under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) health cluster.

The 2024 Selangor Budget tabled on November 10 last year allocated RM35 million for the ISS programme's continuation, which helps policyholders receive immediate treatment at private clinics.

Each ISS policyholder is eligible for RM500 in basic treatment and vaccination annually for the family category and RM250 per year for individuals at any panel clinic throughout Selangor.
