SHAH ALAM, Jan 30 — The state administration is seeking new methods to enhance the recovery process of outstanding debts on loans provided by Yayasan Hijrah Selangor as capital to small businesses in Selangor.
State executive councillor for entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said it is crucial to reclaim these outstanding loans from over 15,000 borrowers, which amount to a staggering RM135 million, in order to facilitate funding of other entrepreneurs.
He pointed out that the primary challenge faced by Hijrah Selangor is in contacting and obtaining cooperation from elusive borrowers.
"Hijrah Selangor will continue to engage with these borrowers to request the settlement of their existing loan balances. Legal action based on the terms of the agreement, including blacklisting, will also be taken," he told reporters after an event, here, yesterday.
Najwan assured that the state government will continue to support Hijrah Selangor's efforts to recover these debts.
He noted that various new initiatives have been implemented by the state subsidiary since last September to reclaim outstanding loans, including the introduction of collection agents and a credit call centre.
"I am confident that the appointment of the new Hijrah Selangor chief executive officer, along with various other efforts, will ensure a more efficient loan recovery," he said.
Since its inception in 2015, the Hijrah Selangor has offered various financing schemes to small businesses like i-Bisnes, Zero to Hero, Go Digital, Niaga Darul Ehsan, i-Lestari, i-Agro and i-Bermusim.
These initiatives aim to help assist entrepreneurs in terms of capital and business expansion.
