Pandamaran flood project ready soon, residents told to maintain cleanliness

SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — The drainage upgrade and flood mitigation project in Taman Melawis is expected to be completed by April next year, said Pandamaran representative Leong Tuck Chee.

The initiative, which involves a cost of RM20 million, can ease the concerns of residents regarding the issue of flash floods in the State Legislative Assembly area.

However, Tuck Chee also called on the residents to maintain cleanliness by not throwing rubbish into the drain to avoid disruption to the drainage system.

"Various efforts have been carried out including the drainage upgrade and flood mitigation project initiative in Taman Melawis with a cost of RM20 million which is still ongoing and is expected to be completed in April next year.

"However, what is more important is the cooperative attitude of all the residents of Pandamaran in not throwing garbage in drains or ditches.

"Cleanliness in this state assembly is not only to prevent flash flooding but as a responsibility to make Pandamaran a healthy and beautiful city without litter," he said when contacted.

According to Tuck Chee, he is also in close contact with relevant parties in the event of a flash flood, especially around Jalan Mohd Yamin; Chi Liung Park, Klang; Chi Liung Park, Pandamaran; Bayu Perdana Park; Taman Melawis and Jalan Sekolah Port Klang.
