State appoints 228 youth leaders as grassroots policy movers

SHAH ALAM, Dec 16 — The state government will appoint 228 new Selangor Youth Movement (PeBS) to mobilise policies and programmes for the youth next year.

State executive councillor for youth Mohd Najwan Halimi said all of them play a role as a link to form unity among the community, thus shaping Selangor’s future.

“This proves the state administration’s trust in the youth to jointly determine the direction of the state. Next year we will also align the PeBS program with the Selangor youth policy and the Rakan Muda concept.

“We will also increase political literacy programs such as understanding democracy and statehood in fostering the spirit of nationalism and patriotism.

“Apart from that, we also want the youth in this state to be involved in community programs that lead to the spirit of unity and goodwill,” he said at a handover event for a donation of 220 kilogrammes of organic fertiliser at the Shah Alam National Botanical Gardens, here today.

PeBS was rebranded and reorganised in 2021 from the Local Youth Mobiliser (PeBT) that was first introduced. The local youth leader played a role in the development agenda of the young generation in each state assembly.
