SABAK BERNAM, Dec 10 — The Selangor government is ready to look into re-establishing a security committee to deal with Covid-19 in the event of an increase in cases of the pandemic in the state.

Dato’ Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, however, said that the Covid-19 situation in Selangor is still under control and that the state government, through the Selangor Public Health Committee (Selphac), is constantly monitoring the pandemic situation from time to time.

He said the state administration is also waiting for the latest data and information from the Health Ministry (MOH) regarding the number of recorded cases.

“We are aware of the increase in (Covid-19) cases in Selangor however, the number involves a duplication of the number of cases.

“If there is a need, we will re-establish a special security committee that was previously closed to deal with Covid-19,” he said after officiating at the Ban Canal 2023 Carnival at Parit 14, Simpang Lima, here today.

Amirudin also advised individuals infected with Covid-19 to isolate themselves and take precautions.

“We have never looked down on the increase in cases that have occurred and will use past experience as a lesson to deal with this case.

“Therefore, I advise individuals with symptoms and those infected with Covid-19 to isolate themselves to ensure that this pandemic is not contagious,” he said.

Recently, Health director-general Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan informed that 3,626 cases were reported during the 47th Epidemiological Week from November 19 to 25.

The number increased by 57.3 per cent compared with the 2,305 cases recorded in the previous week, and Selangor became the highest state so far.
