SHAH ALAM, Dec 6 — The Selangor International Fellowship Programme introduced last year via the Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) is currently translating books from six different countries.

Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said this was agreed upon by the authors and publishers from participating countries, including Malaysia.

“For the first time, participants from countries involved in the fellowship have agreed to translate their books, including those from Malaysia, Turkiye, South Korea, Australia, Nepal, and Indonesia.

“This represents a good opportunity for the writers and publishers to translate books of high quality and will serve as a pilot project for PPAS.

“In fact, it encourages young authors to believe in themselves and hone their talents, not only for the domestic market but also internationally,” she said during the Tanya Apa Saja (Ask Anything) session at SIBF yesterday.

The Selangor International Fellowship Programme was introduced last year in conjunction with the organisation of SIBF 2022.

SIBF was first organised last year as a continuation of the smaller-scale Selangor Book Fair, which has been held for 16 years since 2006.
