SHAH ALAM, Nov 28 — Three areas around Batu Tiga that are identified as being at risk of flooding are being given special attention to prevent the incident from happening again, said its representative.
According to Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron, the three areas under monitoring are Padang Java, Kampung Kebun Bunga and Section 24.
He said Batu Tiga has nine areas at risk of flooding but Padang Java, Kampung Kebun Bunga and Section 24 are the most critical.
"For example, in Padang Java, catchment ponds and water pumps have been completed and feedback on the project found that this infrastructure helps when it rains heavily.
"However, in Kampung Kebun Bunga and Section 24, the implementation is in the works and I am monitoring the progress to ensure that it is implemented according to plan," he said when met after officiating at the 2023 State-level Disabled Sports Carnival at the JKR Stadium here today.
Danial Al-Rashid added that his side also established a volunteer team consisting of more than 100 individuals who are ready to be mobilised at any time in the event of a disaster.
The country is now entering the Northeast Monsoon season, which runs from November to March next year.
Among the preparations carried out by the State Government is holding a Boat Handling Training Simulation and Confidence in the Water.
In fact, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari added that the State is making early preparations at all levels to reduce the impact, loss of life and property damage due to flooding.
