PUTRAJAYA, Nov 7 — The Communications and Digital Ministry (KKD) has to review systems and procedures, work and governance methods which can be improved to boost integrity in departments and agencies under it, said Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Speaking at the ministry’s Integrity Day celebration event today, he said it aligns with the government’s aspiration to raise integrity, reduce corruption, and improve governance.

“There are many things we can look at, including outdated laws and procedures which need reviewing," Azam said, adding the commission is ready to talk to the ministry and its agencies to overcome the issues.

He added the government is setting up the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS), a continuation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan 2019-2023.

“Moving on, we will boost governance, and we are drafting the NACS,” he said.

An engagement session to establish the NACS is being conducted and is expected to be launched by mid-next year.

On July 6, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim posted on X that the government had agreed to continue the NACP with a new strategy at the national level, known as the NACS.

Meanwhile, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who also stressed the integrity practices in his ministry, said Azam’s recommendations would be met and improvements made.

"With improvements to governance, I hope it will reduce things that should not happen,” he said, reminding all to report directly to him if there was any misuse of power and corruption among his staff so necessary action can be taken.

Fahmi had earlier led the Anti-Corruption Pledge with KKD staff, witnessed by Azam.
