Mara dispels food poisoning allegation at Negeri Sembilan college

SEREMBAN, Nov 1 — Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) has clarified that students at a Mara Junior Science College in Negeri Sembilan did not experience food poisoning yesterday, as alleged in a social media post.

In a statement today, it said the District Health Office was promptly contacted, and an investigation was initiated in response to a woman’s Facebook post, which claimed the students had suffered from stomachache and diarrhoea due to consuming rotten eggs during a meal.

“A thorough inspection revealed the institution maintained high standards of cleanliness and adhered to proper food handling procedures,” Mara said.

Mara is committed to ensuring food suppliers consistently follow standard operating procedures when preparing student meals.

It also advised the students' parents not to be overly alarmed and encouraged them to stay in regular contact with the college for the latest updates.

The statement underlined Mara's unwavering concern for the welfare and safety of students in its educational institutions, with a commitment to taking appropriate action whenever issues arise.

Following the woman’s Facebook post, Mara Chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, in a Facebook post, directed the Mara deputy director-general (education) to take strict measures to prevent any similar incidents in the future.

He emphasised there would be zero tolerance for any food supplier’s negligence in providing meals to students.
