KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 — The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), the Malaysian Football League (MFL), and the National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb) handed contributions to the late B. Sathianathan’s widow Krishna Priya, at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya today.
The ceremony was attended by FAM deputy president Datuk S. Sivasundaram, MFL president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan, and Yakeb chairman Datuk Noorul Ariffin Abdul Majeed.
Sivasundaram hopes the contributions from FAM, MFL, and Yakeb will help ease the late former national coach’s family's burden and is a gesture of appreciation for Sathianathan’s service and contribution to the country’s football development.
“I hope the contributions from FAM, MFL and Yakeb can help in a small way to lift the family's financial burden,” he said in a FAM Facebook post.
Also present were FAM vice-president Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub, FAM Secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman, MFL chief executive officer Datuk Stuart Ramalingam, and Yakeb chief executive officer Zuhairi Abd Manaf.
On her part, Krishna Priya said she was overwhelmed by the support and appreciation from the FAM, MFL, and Yakeb.
"I wish to thank FAM for their continuous support and assistance. I would also like to thank MFL and Yakeb for their concern and support towards my family," she said.
In July this year, Sathianathan, 65, passed away at the University of Malaya Medical Centre after battling cancer for a year, leaving behind his wife and four children.
The former Negeri Sembilan player had also coached several local teams, including Selangor and Sarawak United, and was named the Best Coach in 2017 during the National Football Awards.
