Over 300 Selangor cops subjected to disciplinary action this year

PORT KLANG, Oct 11 — A total of 319 policemen in Selangor have been subjected to disciplinary actions due to various offences from January to September this year, said state police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

He said the number was down from 462 disciplinary offences recorded last year, including for the breach of integrity, governance, corruption, crime, Syariah crime, and drugs.

"I will not compromise and protect the offences or crimes committed by police officers and personnel.

"Forty-five personnel and two senior police officers have been charged in court during the same period,” he told the press after today's Ops Ex-Ganjar field exercise in Port Klang.

Meanwhile, Hussein said the crime index in Selangor had increased by six per cent compared to last year but did not exceed the threshold set by the police.

"The rise is due to the increase in economic activities after the Covid-19 pandemic and so on; the police will be more aggressive in curbing these criminal activities," he said.
