Corporate entities encouraged to hold more community service programmes

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Corporate entities have been encouraged to increase their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes through community service initiatives such as dental health check-ups to facilitate communities in suburban and rural areas.

Lembah Pantai MP cum Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said although Lembah Pantai, Pantai Dalam, and Kampung Kerinchi are located in the city and are within a distance of many hospitals and clinics, there are various constraints faced by the local community to obtain treatment and services.

“Hence, when we bring the service into the community, more people will benefit. I welcome this kind of effort, and if other parties want to hold a similar programme (in Lembah Pantai) they can contact me,” he said.

Fahmi was speaking to the press at the Pemeriksaan Kesihatan Gigi: Gigi Sihat Senyum Ceria programme at the People's Housing Project (PPR) in Kerinchi today.

He said the programme, organised in collaboration with the International Medical University (IMU), the Lembah Pantai Residents' Representative Council, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), aims to raise awareness about dental care.

It also helped IMU's third-year dental students to gain practical experience, especially in managing small children who can be difficult to undergo dental check-ups.
