Federal Territories Dept targets 50,000 to join Pasport 50WP prog

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 — The Department of Federal Territories (JWP) is targeting 50,000 participants nationwide to join its Pasport 50WP programme, which began on October 1 and runs until February 25, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.

It is a roadmap challenge which invites the people to explore 50 historical checkpoints, unsung places and hidden gems in the three Federal Territories, namely Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.

The programme is among the main content of the 50th anniversary of the Federal Territories celebration next year.

JWP director-general Datuk Noridah Abdul Rahim said the aim of Pasport 50WP is to highlight the 50 years of excellence and promote love and a sense of belonging among residents to the beauty, uniqueness, and diversity of Federal Territories.

“The programme's vision is to strengthen further relations among members of the community in the Federal Territories while promoting growth and development of the local tourism sector

“It also encourages the community to be actively involved in enjoying the well-being and progress achieved in the half-century, which is a contribution of each individual in the territories,” she said in a statement to Bernama.

Noridah hopes Pasport 50WP can create continuous momentum for the tourism sector in Federal Territories.

"When domestic tourism improves, the local economy will also receive the benefits, especially to the hospitality, food, and services sectors.

"We also hope to increase public awareness of the history and heritage of Federal Territories so that more people, especially those living outside the Federal Territories, visit and explore the various attractions in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan," she said.

The public can get more information about Pasport 50WP programme by visiting the JWP website, or emailling [email protected].
