PORT KLANG, Oct 6 — Yayasan Hijrah Selangor is set to organise a pre-Deepavali bazaar next month, which will bring together 100 Indian community entrepreneurs, said the state executive councillor for entrepreneurship Najwan Halimi.
The bazaar, to be held at Padang Chetty in Klang, will allow the community to offer festive items for the upcoming Deepavali celebration.
He said the business permits for bazaar participants would be covered by the Selangor Indian Entrepreneur Development (Sitham) programme, including providing business equipment like tents.
"We are looking to get least 50 and a maximum of 100 traders to participate in this bazaar. The applications will open in two weeks," he said after inaugurating the closing ceremony of the 2023 Super TikTok Strategy Course yesterday.
The course under Sitham was attended by about 40 entrepreneurs from the Indian community from around Klang. Also in attendance was Hijrah's acting chief executive officer Normaiza Yahya.
On her part, Normaiza said Hijrah is opening applications for the i-Bermusim scheme in conjunction with Deepavali, which offers up to RM20,000 in capital loans, which can be applied for at the nearest branch or online.
i-Bermusim was first introduced early last year, in conjunction with the arrival of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, as well as the fruit season.
During the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget on November 25 last year, RM130 million was allocated to allow Hijrah to improve the scheme and support entrepreneurs' development.
