SHAH ALAM, Oct 4 — The Sidek Siblings Exhibition will soon be open to the public, especially national badminton enthusiasts, in December at Muzium Sultan Alam Shah.
State executive councillor for culture Borhan Aman Shah said the exhibition allows the public to view various trophy collections and medals achieved by the late Datuk Sidek Abdullah Kamar's children, including Misbun, Jalani, and Rashid.
Visitors can also gain inspiration from the life journey of the Datuk Sidek, who strived to raise and educate his children to become renowned badminton players.
"The preparations are now being finalised, and the Sidek family has agreed to temporarily lend all the trophies and medals for the exhibition.
"We will also display comics and pictures of the Sidek children from their early days, as well as their achievements in badminton. Visitors can scan the barcodes on these pictures to get more information," he told SelangorKini yesterday.
The Tanjong Sepat state assemblyman also plans to establish the Sidek family's trophy and medal collections as a historical heritage by displaying them at Muzium Sultan Alam Shah.
"We are planning a visit to Datuk Sidek's home in Kanchong Darat, Banting, in the near future. There are several things we want to see, especially old items or clothing belonging to the Sidek family.
"We will discuss later whether the family wishes to donate them to the museum or if the state government might purchase them. We hope this will proceed as planned," Borhan said.
Misbun (Bun), Razif (Ajib), Jailani (Alan), Rahman (Aman), and Abdul Rashid (Adul) are five of Malaysia's most prominent badminton athletes, who brought glory to the country on the world stage during their heyday from the early 1980s to the late 1990s.
