GOMBAK, Oct 2 — The state government is prepared to listen to the concerns of Bandar Tasik Puteri residents on the proposal for the construction of a waste incinerator plant within the vicinity.
Rawang state assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat said they are aware of the residents' worries amid claims the project will have detrimental environmental and health effects.
"We hear the residents' complaints and concerns. I understand this incinerator project involves advanced technology, but the residents may not understand or know it.
"The best approach is to hold a dialogue session between the project owners and the residents. I believe the state government is willing to listen to the people's voices," he said.

Chua was speaking at the dialogue session with over 100 residents and a non-governmental organisation, Jaringan Rawang Tolak Insinerator (JRTI), at Dataran Batu Arang yesterday.
Meanwhile, JRTI coordinator Lam Choong Wah said his organisation opposes the waste incinerator plant proposal, given its proximity to residential areas.
Instead, it suggests the state government implement more sustainable solutions including zero waste management, which includes recycling, reuse, and banning plastic usage.

"The residents want a more sustainable solution like zero waste management. This solution was recognised by the United Nations in 2022 and is comprehensive.
"I believe it should be emulated and learned from by the state and Federal governments. It is crucial for the environment," he said.
