KLANG, Sept 18 — Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd is determined to achieve its goal of becoming the leading water service provider in Asia by 2030, said its acting chief executive officer Abas Abdullah.
To that end, it is working towards reducing the non-revenue water (NRW) rate to 25 per cent by 2025. So far, Air Selangor has successfully reduced the rate by 5.5 per cent, from 33.3 per cent in 2017 to 27.8 per cent last year.
"Our goal is also to increase the water reserve margin, replace old pipes, and construct additional water treatment plants (WTP), to meet customer needs.

"We are looking to replace 6,000km of old and critical pipes immediately, but this needs to be done in phases due to the high costs involved," he said.
Abas was speaking to the press after visiting the Hydro Family On Wheels roadshow, in conjunction with Air Selangor's fourth anniversary, at Aeon Mall Bukit Raja yesterday.
On Air Selangor's efforts and achievements in these past four years, he said 650 km of old pipes have been replaced, and the Sungai Semenyih WTP constructed.
"We also improved customer service via digitalisation, by creating the Air Selangor app to facilitate customer complaints.
"We hope the transformation and initiatives carried out in providing the best experience for consumers will continue to be prioritised, in line with the Air Selangor brand promise, setiap titis bermakna (every drop matters),'" he explained.
Prior to this, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said Selangor is aiming to reduce the NRW rate to 25 per cent by 2025, in line with the First Selangor Plan.
This goal is also consistent with the state government's efforts to replace old pipes and implement WTP construction projects.
