SHAH ALAM, Sept 13 — The state government ought to consider adding subsidies for goods sold during the Jelajah Ehsan Rahmah (JER) affordable basic necessities programme, in the near future.

Shah Alam City Council councillor Mohd Firdaus Mokhtar said this is due to customers looking forward to JER, which he said cannot be found in other states.

"The state government has 46 initiatives, but JER is one of the closest to the people's hearts as the products offered for sale are very affordable.

"As such, I request they consider adding subsidies and diversifying products, so more people can benefit from this," he said.

Speaking at the JER programme for Kota Anggerik yesterday, Mohd Firdaus added that 11 such sales have been organised in the state constituency since 2020, with very encouraging responses from the local residents.

"On our part as councillor, we provide logistics for customers, while the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) only has to bring the products for sale.

"For today, we used a number system and Alhamdulillah, these affordable sales are often met with high demand from residents," he said.

JER is a rebranding of Jualan Ehsan Rakyat, which was changed on June 1 and will run until this December, in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN).

It offers standard chicken at RM10 per pack, fresh solid beef (RM10 per pack), Grade B chicken eggs (RM10 per tray), mackerel fish (RM6 per pack), five kg bottles of cooking oil (RM25), and five kg bags of rice (RM10).

JER's latest locations all across Selangor can be reviewed on PKPS' Facebook page, or via the link linktr.ee/myPKPS.
