SHAH ALAM, Sept 1 — A total of 3,000 titles encompassing various genres will be on offer during the third edition of the Petaling Jaya Book Expo (PJBX), which runs from September 9 to September 17 at the MBPJ Civic Hall.
Malaysian Book Publishers Association president Sheikh Faisal Sheikh Mansor said the books include novels, fiction, religion, motivational, children, and more.
PJBX, jointly organised with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), will also offer special discounts of up to 80 per cent on selected book collections.
"Even more exciting, early visitors stand to receive an additional RM10 discount for book purchases exceeding RM20, using vouchers which will be distributed at PJBX
"We hope the expo will be well-received by the public, seeing as visitors can obtain a variety of reading materials being offered by over 40 exhibitors, including Sasbadi which just confirmed their participation yesterday," he said when contacted.
Sheikh Faisal added he is confident the expo will be able to attract as many as 25,000 visitors during its nine-day run.
On Tuesday (August 29) Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said over 30 popular book publishers would participate in PJBX, including Karangkraf, Institut Buku Darul Ehsan (IBDE), PTS, Pelangi, and Iman Publications.
MBPJ will also provide book purchase vouchers to early visitors so they can buy their preferred reading materials at lower prices.
MBPJ's strategic partners, including public and private educational institutions, are also hosting various activities for visitors, such as dental check-ups by Lincoln University, early childhood education awareness by Saito University College, and road safety awareness by Universiti Teknologi Mara.
