By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has allocated over RM10 million to students and schools to empower the education sector in the state.

Its corporate social responsibility chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said among other things, the funds have been utilised for the Selangor free tuition programme, back to school aid, and infrastructure upgrades.

"This year, we have distributed RM1,000 assistance to 930 primary and secondary schools for programmes under the management of the respective parent teacher associations.

"This allows them to run their administrative affairs smoothly. The donations can be used to fund meetings, make allowance payments and for other matters," he told Selangorkini.

Previously in June, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari had said MBI, a state government subsidiary, has channelled RM25.5 million in aid for the education sector since 2021.

He said the aid was distributed with the cooperation of various quarters, including the state Education Department, schools, assemblymen and other relevant agencies.
