KLANG, Aug 13 — The victory of the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional (BN) alliance in the Selangor State Election was due to the strong consensus among its parties' leadership.
Selangor DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo said the success was also driven by the hard work of the party machinery throughout the campaigning period, as well as support from all voter segments regardless of ethnicity.
"I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all those who provided their support," he said during the midnight press conference announcing the Harapan-BN victory.
Selangor Parti Amanah Negera chairman Izham Hashim said their victory was due to fielding new faces as candidates, which he said proved to be remarkable.
This is in reference to the successes of Abbas Azmi in Seri Serdang, Anfaal Saari in Taman Templer, Danial Al Rashid Haron in Batu Tiga, and Siti Mariam Abdul Rashid in Meru.
Similarly, Selangor Umno deputy chairman Datuk Johan Abdul Aziz said their victory was a move that can strengthen BN's influence in Selangor.
"This is the beginning step for BN to rise again. Previously, we were the Opposition, but this coalition will open new opportunities," he said.
