KLANG, July 31 — Pakatan Harapan’s (Harapan) defending candidate for Port Klang is committed to ensuring the continuous improvement of the state constituency’s infrastructure, should he win the ongoing Selangor state election.

Azmizam Zaman Huri is also mulling a proposal to construct a new secondary school in Telok Gong, given the lack of one until now.

“I hope voters will give me another chance to retain the seat, as I am concerned if it goes to another candidate, the progress we have achieved so far may grind to a halt,” he said.

Azmizam is facing off against Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Wan Hasrina Wan Hassan and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Syed Ahmad Putra Syed Isa for Port Klang.

Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for Meru, Mariam Abdul Rashid, is looking at waste collection issues and its residents’ welfare should she secure the state constituency.

“I will also put my decade-long experience as a Shah Alam City Council member to good use by working to improve public infrastructure facilities throughout Meru,” she said.

Mariam is going up against Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s M. Sivaranjani and PN’s Hasnizam Adham for Meru.

The Election Commission has set August 8 as the early voting date, with polling on August 12.
