SHAH ALAM, July 26 — The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) is developing hydrological telemetry stations to monitor the quantity and quality of water in the state's river basins.

It said these stations will be placed in areas with a 50-metre river reserve, to continuously record real-time readings at the location.

They also serve as an early warning system in critical areas upstream of risky water intakes, like in Sungai Selangor and Sungai Semenyih.

"The telemetry stations provide communication for the transmission of data from to Luas monitoring storage devices."

"Additionally, they function as an early warning system in high-risk areas," Luas said in a Facebook post yesterday.

The stations are regularly monitored to ensure the installed technology operates at full capacity.

It said several procedures must be carried out, like conducting tests to check each component according to its performance criteria and specified requirements.

"Regular monitoring and inspections are regularly carried out, in coordination with related agencies via the Selangor Water Resources Operations platform, so as to ensure the water sources in catchment areas are well-preserved," Luas said.
