APM in 45 districts nationwide do not have own home base

KOTA KINABALU, July 4 — The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in 45 districts across the country is still without their own home bases, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Duties) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

Out of that number, most involved district APMs in Sabah and Sarawak have to operate from other premises (on loan or lease) and some even have to operate from the homes of the APM staff itself.

He said so far, 160 districts already have their own APM premises and as secretariats at the district level, all district CDFs need to have their own home bases to operate from in order to house physical assets for disaster management.

“Our focus is to scout for government premises, whether federal or state, where we can house APM officers, staff (and equipment) as the allocation of funds may not be immediately available,” Armizan said.

He was speaking at the closing of the Sabah State Disaster Management and Operations Coordination Workshop, earlier today.
