SHAH ALAM, June 14 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is projected to continue recording substantial operational profits this year, thus becoming a catalyst for the state economy, according to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Despite facing challenging circumstances due to Covid-19, Amirudin said the corporation is on the right track after achieving a profit of over RM200 million last year.
"Our recovery efforts have been successful. Therefore, this year, we estimate that PKNS will be able to generate significant profits and maintain a healthy cash position to facilitate new housing and urban development projects.
"The state government has a 15-year plan for PKNS to remain a contributor and a driving force for Selangor's economy," he said.
Amirudin made these remarks during the Excellent Service Awards 2022 and PKNS Appreciation Night 2023 held at the Shah Alam Convention Center (SACC), here, last night.
As of December 31, 2021, PKNS recorded a pre-tax and zakat profit of RM905.8 million, thanks to increased operational revenue from building and land sales.
Separately, Amirudin announced that PKNS will lead the construction project of the third port on Carey Island to help ease container congestion at the North and West ports in the western, thereby boosting the economy.
