SHAH ALAM, June 6 — A total of nine local entrepreneurs succeeded in penetrating the international market following their recent participation in Hong Kong's Trade and Hospitality Exhibition (Hofex) 2023 under the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).
Its senior general manager of entrepreneurship Azilah Arasad @ Arshad said this is the first time entrepreneurs under PKNS' programme have been able enter the global market.
"A total of nine entrepreneurs had travelled with PKNS' delegation to Hofex 2023. Among them are producers of patin tempoyak products, fruit cordial, fresh porridge, essential oil, snack, biscuit, bird's nest drink, food paste and cake.
"Their participation from May 10 to 12 have succeeded in securing various networking approaches from visitors and local food operators alike," she said in a statement.
According to Azilah, her team has also held discussions with Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation representatives in Hong Kong as well as several companies on exploring further opportunities at the international level.
"The discussions (are on) joining international food and beverages festivals and exhibitions that are to be held at the end of this year.
"This is the best platform for PKNS entrepreneurs to penetrate the markets in Hong Kong, Macau and China," she said.
