YALA, May 12 — A ranger was killed and three others were seriously injured in a bomb attack in Bannang Sata, Yala, southern Thailand, earlier today.
Bannang Sata District Police Chief, Pol Col Ranon Surawit, said in the incident at about 8.30am (local time) today, a group of rangers were on duty at the scene.
"Preliminary investigations found that a homemade bomb weighing 15 to 30 kilogrammes was attached to a gas canister and detonated using a walkie-talkie.
"One ranger died at the scene while three others were seriously injured and rushed to Bannang Sata Hospital for further treatment," he said.
A house located near the scene of the incident was also damaged.
"Police are tracking down the mastermind behind the incident," Ranon said.
