SHAH ALAM, April 26 — Large-scale paving works on damaged roads statewide will be carried out in the near future, said the state executive councillor for infrastructure and public facilities Izham Hashim.

He said this would cost an estimated RM50 million, with the works slated to begin in areas with the most damages reported.

"The projects have been discussed comprehensively before the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration and have been individually examined.

"So it will commence after this using special state government funds, which do not interfere with any allocations," Izham told SelangorKini yesterday.

On January 16, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari announced a mega road paving project will take place, encompassing the maintenance and widening of roads under state management.

He also encouraged the public to report instances of road damage in their respective communities on Twitter, by sending photos and written complaints with the hashtags #infrasel #<district name> #<road name>.

From 2021 until last year, state road maintenance company Infrasel Sdn Bhd (Infrasel) has carried out over 39,000 road paving projects to ensure user comfort.

All the damages were repaired within 24 hours, based on complaints from members of the public.
