SUBANG JAYA, April 8 — The Federal government has allocated RM5 million for 77 new villages in the state, said Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming.

He said a variety of products from the new villages can also be used as tourism products.

"Therefore, I announce that RM5 million will be given to the Selangor government as development funds for 77 new villages, as we have taken note that many new villages products can be promoted (for tourism).

"This is why under Budget 2023, RM104 million has been set aside to various new village development programmes, including for beautification and to promote tourism," Nga said.

The minister was speaking at a press conference after officiating the Fiesta Selangor New Village-ING event at the Pavilion Bukit Jalil shopping centre yesterday.

Nga said Malaysia's cultural and racial diversity is the nation's privilege and strength.

"Diversity is our strength, and unity in diversity is a most correct approach (to practice). One such approach that can be highlighted are the new villages," he said.
