SHAH ALAM, March 30 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has organised a special two-day workshop to explore the strategy and guidelines towards reaching a smart city status, which has been praised by the Selangor government.
State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said that developing the action plan for the years 2023 to 2030 is consistent with the state administration’s objective of becoming a smart state by the year 2025.
“I applaud the smart city initiative put forth by MBSA, especially the workshop that took place today (yesterday) and collaborated with external agencies to share opinions.
"The exchange of ideas is important because the local authorities cannot act alone and instead needs cooperation to realise the vision of a smart city,” he said in a press conference after launching the Shah Alam Smart City Action Plan Workshop 2023-2030 at the MBSA Convention Center here, yesterday.
According to Ng, the local governments in Selangor are all aiming to achieve the status of a smart city based on the respective guidelines that would be beneficial to various stakeholders.
“Many benefits can be attained, including significant financial gains and reduced operating costs that people, particularly in the business community and the government, can experience,” he added.
The MBSA two-day workshop was attended by 150 participants from MBSA, Smart Selangor Delivery Unit, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd and the Selangor Utility Corridor.
