SEPANG, March 19 — The Cat Park at Taman Tasik Cyberjaya here has been open to the public since February, said Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) President Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain.
He said the park was built to shelter stray cats in the surrounding area, which can be preserved and protected.
"This 0.3 acre or 1,000 square feet park currently looks after 31 cats and is able to accommodate 200 to 300 cats at a time.
"As such, MPSepang would also like to welcome participation from the corporate sector or any other party, to contribute and help this Cat Park," Abd Hamid said.

He was speaking at the opening ceremony for the park, which was officiated by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, at Taman Tasik Cyberjaya yesterday.
Abd Hamid added that MPSepang has also devised several strategies to ensure the Cat Park is maintained, including appointing a panel of veterinary doctors so the health of its wards is looked after.
The council will also carry out a spaying and neutering programme with related parties and is also looking to forge ties with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
"We also want to organise an open day, so as to encourage animal lovers to bring home cats here to be cared for, or bring any stray cats here which we can look after as best we can," he said.
The Cat Park is also equipped with an office, a rest room, a clinic, an intensive care unit, a rehabilitation unit, and a mother and kitten treatment unit.
