SHAH ALAM, March 14 — The state remains highly committed when it comes to green energy and sustainability, in order to encourage the development of new industries and bring about job opportunities.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said doing so will further spur economic growth in Selangor.

"The state government has implemented various policies and initiatives to promote the use of renewable energy and reduce Selangor's carbon footprint, which includes renewable energy policies, the use of solar energy, waste-to-energy technology, electric vehicles, and green building policies.

"All of this is proof of our commitment to green energy and sustainability, which leads to a reduction of the state's carbon footprint and promotes sustainable development, while also driving Selangor to become a smart state," he said in his speech, during the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoU) between Worldwide Holdings Berhad and a few companies, at Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort yesterday.

The text of the speech was read out by Selangor State Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim, who represented Amirudin at the event.

The MoUs concern Worldwide Holdings' cooperation with the signatory companies on the development of solar energy projects in Selangor.

The Menteri Besar said the state government believes the transition to renewable energy sources, like solar and hydro, will contribute to the efforts to ensure energy security and stability.

"Doing so will also reduce the dependence on fossil fuels which is detrimental to the environment and to public health," he said.

that leave a negative impact on the environment and public health," he said.
