KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 27 — The announcement of assistance to workers who deliver food or goods on motorbikes (p-hailing) in Budget 2023 is proof that the state government’s initiative is on the right track.

State executive councillor for human capital development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the federal government’s assistance is similar to the Roda Darul Ehsan (RiDE) programme but its implementation is more comprehensive.

"Selangor is the first state to assist the p-hailing group through RiDE. We offer cash assistance of RM500 to them.

"Now, the federal government wants to assist. So, we know Selangor is on the right track. They (p-hailing riders) can choose to apply with the federal or state government," he said during his speech after officiating the Kuala Selangor Jelajah Kita Selangor Penyayang (JKSP) roadshow at the Esplanade Eco Grandeur Square, here yesterday.

In the Budget 2023 presentation, the government agreed to cover the driving test fee for class B2 motorcycle licence and taxi, bus as well as p-hailing licences.

The RiDE programme initiated by the state government in 2020 offers B2 motorcycle licence subsidy amounting to RM350, a p-hailing course worth RM150 and Socso contribution of RM70 per year.
