GOMBAK, Feb 26 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has commended the Hulu Kelang state constituency for its initiative in creating a garden called Laman Herba at its community service centre.
He said the state constituency community service centre is not just a place for the community to obtain information or lodge complaints, but also to benefit residents.
"This herbal garden is part of Projek Selangor Penyayang, under which we provide allocations to each state constituency to upgrade or create facilities for the people.
"Here the state assemblyman (Saari Sungib) took the approach of creating a Herb Garden. I am made to understand that over RM30,000 has been allocated to create this garden," Amirudin said.
Speaking at the inauguration of Laman Herba at the community service centre yesterday, the Menteri Besar also encouraged the other state assemblymen to establish such community gardens in their respective constituencies.
He added the state government is also seeking to resolve the land issue in order to settle the clash between the local government and the community which also made the same programme.
"We are trying to solve it so the community garden efforts carried out by various quarters can also be recognised, despite occasionally seeming to violate the 'zoning' and criteria conditions.
"A garden such as this is very helpful for the food chain, and state constituencies encourage them to do it if they are so interested. Yet the issue is how to do it consistently instead of just seasonally," Amirudin said.
