KUALA SELANGOR, Feb 9 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is confident that the authority of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister can build a better and united Malaysia.
He said Anwar’s leadership in governing will bring a clear direction to the country, people, race and descendents, thus forming a consensus.
“I believe in Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership as the 10th Prime Minister, and today will be further highlighted by his lecture as the first lecture of the Kursi Siddiq Fadzil programme which will bring clear directions to the country,” he said during the Kursi Siddiq Fadzil Distinguished Lecture programme at Universiti Selangor (Unisel), here today.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said the late scientist Datuk Dr Siddiq Fadzil often reminded that the identity, tradition and life of the Malays and Islam should not be reduced in the process of building the nation.
“In his speech in 2019, he reminded us that when building Malaysia, we cannot lose our love for Islam. He reminded us of the importance of building a united, harmonious and tight knit nation,” he said.
Last year, the state government established the Kursi Siddiq Fadzil at Unisel with a fund of RM1 million to promote the discourse of harmony and simplicity.
The state government also agreed to add another RM4 million to appreciate the scientist who has contributed a lot to the country in uplifting the Malay language and Islam.
Dr Siddiq Fadzil who died on August 31, 2021 was once the University of Malaya Muslim Student Association president, the Malaysian Islamic Youth president and Wadah president.
The father of seven has also held the position of chairman of the Darul Ehsan Institute (IDE), chairman of IDE's Maqasid Shariah Study and chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.
