SHAH ALAM, Jan 9 — A total of RM4 million has been allocated to the Selangor Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneur Development (Baik) programme to develop the businesses of new village entrepreneurs.

State executive councillor for new village development Ng Sze Han said the amount has increased by RM3.6 million compared to before due to positive response from the residents.

"Through this programme, 37 food products were successfully marketed and even received demand from supermarkets outside of Selangor.

"This Selangor Baik has helped traders expand their operations, thus opening job opportunities in the village," he said during a friendly ceremony with the New Village’s Village Community Management Council yesterday.

The Baik Selangor programme was introduced in August 2021 to commercialise products produced by new villagers and participants were also given training on marketing aspects.

Ng also said this year, a sum of RM4 million has been allocated to upgrade new village facilities for the convenience of the residents.

"Last year, we implemented 45 projects involving a spending of over RM3 million, including the construction of drains and basketball courts.

"This year, applications are being examined before aid is distributed," he said.
