Home, land owners can be fined for failure to ensure premise cleanliness — MPAJ

SHAH ALAM, Jan 6 — Homeowners and landlords in Ampang Jaya may face fines if they do not clean up their premises within 14 days after receiving a compound notice.

Its President Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said the complaints related to disturbance will be investigated first before further action is taken.

He added that if an owner does not comply with the notice, cleaning works will then be carried out to clear the factors causing disturbances, like mosquito breeding grounds or the risk of the presence of poisonous animals.

“Following that, a compound notice under Section 82 (5) and cleaning charge under Section 82 (4) will be issued to the owners.

“They have to go to MPAJ to pay the compound. Court action will be taken if they fail to settle the compound,” Mohd Fauzi said in a statement.

The cleaning charge is borne by the council at RM214 for residential, RM250 for vacant land less than an acre, and RM500 for more than an acre.
