SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has detected 'ali baba' actions by hawkers who originally conducted their businesses along the reserve road shoulder of Jalan Taqwa in Persiaran Puchong Permai, Puchong.

Mayor Datuk Johary Anuar revealed these traders rent or sublet temporary permits, as their documentation cannot be renewed since the traders build unauthorised permanent structures.

"Prior to this, we did give temporary hawkers permits. However, these permits cannot be renewed as the hawkers set up (permanent) constructions at the location.

"The permits were then abused and given to other traders. So, those currently trading there are not the original holders," he told SelangorKini.

On Wednesday (December 21), MBSJ demolished 25 illegal structures along the reserve road shoulder, and also offered business sites and food courts to the hawkers and petty traders which are situated at Dataran Niaga Puchong Permai.

Johary said three hawkers so far have moved to the square to continue their businesses, as it is located some 300 metres from their original location.

"We provide Dataran Niaga Puchong Permai at a reasonable monthly rental rate of RM30 per plot for one session, which is one day involving three sessions," he said.
