SHAH ALAM, Dec 9 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) is committed to expanding strategic cooperation in relation to food security in Selangor with Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand (CP).

Through the collaboration with the world-leading food conglomerate, efforts to devise long-term solutions via the involvement in production and marketing of basic food products can be implemented.

“This includes high-impact agricultural projects and corn production for chicken feed. It also involves broiler breeding projects, chicken farms and chicken processing plants,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

At a round table discussion between the CP delegation led by CP Malaysia president Montree Srihamontree and PKPS group chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi yesterday, current issues related to chickens and eggs were also discussed.

“Through this partnership with CP, PKPS is committed to stabilising prices and making basic food items available for the people in this country, especially in Selangor,” he said.

PKPS was established on January 2, 1972, replacing the Selangor State Rice Loan Board to advance the plantation industry and socioeconomics of the state, in addition to implementing commercial projects for the benefit of the people.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari was reported as saying that PKPS, with 50 years of experience, is believed to continue to lead efforts to secure food supply for the state.
