SHAH ALAM, Dec 7 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari expressed pride in the inaugural 2022 Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF), which has received an extraordinary response with the attendance of over 100,000 visitors as of the sixth day, yesterday.
He said the attendance was better, in the same period, than the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, which was held last June.
He also said that most exhibitors, especially those from abroad, are satisfied with the organisation of the book fair because they have the opportunity to market their various publications.
“I believe there will be more people this weekend. I would like to thank everyone who cooperated and fully supported the programme this time.
“This international book fair is significant because it focuses on the publication, sales and introduction of children’s books. This is in line with our objectives towards early education, which is the heart of the country’s education,” he said when met after visiting the fair at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre, here today.

He also visited several exhibition booths including Big Bear Distributor, World Scientific Publishing, Kumpulan Rimbunan, Exploria, Buku-Buku Indonesia, Guanxi Normal Univ Press and Scientific Publishing Council of Malaysia.
The Menteri Besar also visited the booths of Yusuf Gajah, Children and Youth’s Book Council, Kuala Lumpur Library and @do.da. doodle before reciting a poem titled ‘Rumah Ini Rumah Kita’.
The inaugural SIBF is organised by the state government together with PPAS as a continuation of the Selangor Book Fair held since 2006.
In addition to exhibitions and book sales, various interesting activities involving students and children were also held together with sales of a variety of food and goods.
