Plats help rural traders to expand market reach, generate more income

SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — The Selangor Platform (Plats) initiative has helped rural traders to expanding their businesses, said state executive councillor for entrepreneurial development Rodziah Ismail.

She said the initiative has managed to help the traders to expand their market reach by promoting their businesses online, thus generating more income.

“Plats, through its collaboration with Rakan Digital, went to ground to find potential small traders in rural areas. They helped promote the traders’ business via the platform, as well as guiding them,” she said during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting, earlier today.

The platform has seen increasing support with 17,979 hawkers and small traders registered under Plats, as of October.

The initiative, which was introduced two years ago to complete Selangor's digitalisation agenda ecosystem following the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, has been improved to ensure traders are able generate income all the time.

Plats was continued this year with collaboration from various parties including Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad, Rakan Digital Selangor, and the state’s 12 local authorities.

Meanwhile, Rodziah said the Selangor Entrepreneurs Development Council will present its three-year plan to the Selangor State Council as soon as possible.

“The direction of entrepreneurial development for these three years has been concluded, and we will forward it in the meeting,” she said.
