SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 — Increased rainfall has resulted in the Selangor government stepping up its monitoring activities of the water levels in the state, as Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has instructed all state apparatus to prepare for any possibilities.

He said he has been in communication with the state disaster management committee chairman Datuk Haris Kasim, on the water levels for several rivers in Selangor which are rising due to the continuous heavy rains.

"The state government will monitor the situation from time to time and is on alert and fully prepared to deal with any possibilities," Amirudin said on Twitter.

Earlier today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department forecasted heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms for all districts in the state, beginning around 3pm.

Later in the evening, the agency updated its weather report and said the ongoing strong weather will persist until 9pm tonight.
