GOMBAK, Nov 6 — Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) members and supporters in Selangor are urged to double up efforts to maintain a victory of 20 seats or more in the coming 15th general election (GE15).

Selangor Harapan chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said according to current sentiments and support of the people, he is confident that the coalition would be able to win all the seats won in the 2018 general election.

“We just need to increase our efforts to get that amount, maybe even add a few more seats.

“Following the current momentum, it seems that we can capture 20 seats,” said the Harapan Gombak candidat when met after his visit at Kampung Fajar today.

Amirudin was commenting on Parti Keadilan Rakyat (Keadilan) deputy president Rafizi Ramli’s statement that the latter expects Harapan to win at least 19 seats in Selangor.

In May 2018, the coalition had captured 20 out of the 22 parliamentary seats in Selangor but political manoeuvres had left it with 16 seats at the time the parliament was dissolved on October 10.

Meanwhile, Amirudin had spent some time listening to the grouses of the people in Kampung Fajar, which include drainage issues,

He also said that he would provide some support to an amputee man, Mohd Akram Noor Mohamed, 68, and his wife Ruslilawatie Othman,56, to enable them to continue their small-scale freshwater fish farm.

“My team will do follow-up visits to ensure they are able to earn a living like before,” Amirudin said.

Earlier in the morning, Amirudin also visited Hulu Klang and took his time to mingle with the residents there.

He began his campaign today at 9am with breakfast at a mamak restaurant near Taman Melawati.

Amirudin then inspected the operation of the food court located less than 150 metres from the restaurant in question.

The patrons were surprised to see the state leader’s presence, who did not stop smiling when greeting them and asking for their well-being.

In a separate incident, Amiruddin, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar, intervened to help speed up the construction of the second bridge in Kampung Sungai Salak, which residents have been waiting for, for the past 12 years.

This is to overcome road congestion

problems in the village, where previously, its 1,000 residents used the one and only bridge to get to the main road separated by Sungai Gombak.

According to Kampung Sungai Salak Residents’ Association chairman Hamili Zakaria, he requested help in 2010 from a political party that controlled the central government at that time but it was in vain as there were no developments.

“Last year, the MB announced an allocation of RM500,000 which sped things up and enabled this bridge to begin operation a month ago, ensuring the residents a faster and safer travel experience,” Hamili said.

The Harapan chairman will be contending in Gombak this GE15, challenging incumbent Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali from Perikatan Nasional, Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin from Barisan Nasional, Datuk Aziz Jamaluddin from Pejuang and independent candidate Zulkifli Ahmad.
