GE15: Cops identify eight hotspots in Johor

BATU PAHAT, Nov 4 — Johor Police has identified eight locations in the state as hotspots for the 15th general election (GE15).

Johor Police Chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said to prevent untoward incidents, police will give more focus on the locations identified.

Speaking to reporters here yesterday, he said police will also monitor election-related gambling elements in terms of fixing election results such as vote buying.

Kamarul Zaman said police will mobilise 8,600 officers and personnel statewide throughout GE15, with 3,800 of them assigned at 26 nomination centers.

He also reminded that action will be taken against those who violate election ethics and regulations and advised political parties to comply with the rules set by the Election Commission (EC).

The EC has set polling day for November 19, nominations on November 5 and early voting on November 15.
